I’ve been doing a lot of research lately about food and I’m now starting research on treats. Right now I feed my animals Purina Cat Chow, but I have made the decision to switch to Solid Gold Indigo Moon Holistic Cat Food. Now, I’m trying to figure out what the healthiest cat treats are. I read that Castor & Pollux, Catswell, Halo, Wellness and Zuke’s are the healthiest. What do you think? Or which of these brands do you consider to be the healthiest?
Merrywether is a 16 year old Scottish Fold. I adopted her November ’07 from Helping Persians via Scottish Fold Rescue. She was surrendered to Escondido Animal Shelter July ’07 because her owner was very ill and passed away. Poor thing was in a small cage for nearly 4 months. She has been the greatest companion, such a joy. She is in excellent health, with the exception of some arthritis in her feet & knees. She loves cat treats. Her favorites are the Temptations, natural or denta-bites. Ofen, when she wants a treat, she’ll automatically just start sitting up repeatedly!

Some manufacturers sell frozen raw diets and premix products to cater to owners who feed raw. Major brand-name dry cat food manufacturers often use primarily grain-based ingredients like corn and rice with meat by-products or animal digest making up the meat ingredients. Some manufacturers offer ‘premium’, ‘natural’ or ‘holistic’ formulas that are by-product free and contains less or no grains. Grain-free dry diets still contain carbohydrates, from sources such as potato or tapioca as the starch in those ingredients is needed to allow the kibble to hold its shape. Cats have no metabolic need for carbohydrates as the feline system prefers to create glucose from protein.

In the fall we noticed she was itching her neck a lot and she was scratching so hard that she had scabs all over her neck and head. So we took her to the vet, he gave her a steroid injection and some pills to give her and she got better.
Now it’s spring, and she had the same problem, only this time it was much much worse. She scratched her neck and head so much that she had huge oozy wounds and the steroids didn’t work. So we quarantined her in a room with hypoallergenic food and kitty litter and her neck healed.
Then a few days later we came home and her paw had swelled to 3 times it’s normal size. We figured she must have been stung by a bee since i saw one in my basement earlier that day. The next morning, her paw was back to normal. She was still scratching her neck even though we have been giving her hypoallergenic food with crushed tablets that have stuff for healthy skin. About 2 days after he paw was back to normal, the left side of her face was swollen. We thought it would get better after a day like the paw, but it only got worse. It was so swollen that her left eye was mostly closed. Now today, 4 days after we noticed her face was swollen, i was petting her under her neck and i noticed that the left side of her neck is swollen, like when you have a cold your lymph nodes in your neck are swollen, her left side of her neck its swollen and hanging down a little like a fat belly.
I don’t know what to do :[ The vet said she probably has an allergy but we’ve tried new food and new litter. Why does this keep happening? could it be something serious? Have you ever heard of something like this? Thank you so much for your help, I feel so sad for her and I just want her to be healthy.
She doesn’t go outside, but we do have ants in the house, could that have anything to do with it?

For over 15 years, the Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center (WERC) of Morgan Hill California has been rehabilitating bobcat kittens using bird-of-prey anti-imprinting methods. This technique ensures that the bobcats dont become habituated to their human caretakers and remain wild and wary of people when theyre released back to their native habitats. To make themselves as unlike a human as humanly possible, surrogate bobcat mothers wear full-body costumes, scented with herbs and bobcat urine to cover up human odors. Remaining quiet at all times when within the enclosure, they never stand up and walk on their hands and knees. The method has proven successful with more than 30 bobcats over the years and WERC has been internationally recognized for its bobcat kitten protocols. Now, once again, WERC is at work making sure that two little kittens will grow up to be truly wild wildcats! On April 14, bobcat Morro was discovered in the middle of a field by a hiker trekking in a Morro Bay park. He was uncertain of whether the mother had only accidentally and temporarily dropped her tiny kitten, while transporting her to a safe haven. Checking back an hour later, the hiker found that the helpless kitten, only one-week-old and whose eyes were still closed, was still there and so it was assumed that the mother was either dead or had abandoned her. She was cared for by Pacific Wildlife Care for a few days, and then was transferred to WERC For the first few weeks of her life …

I have 2 cats (both 1 year old females) I am not sure which is throwing up but it seems to have been getting to be more often the past 2 days . At first it was only full chunks of food. They are on a 50 – 50 diet (holistic dry cat food , and wet food (chicken soup for the kitten soul – i think its called ) . I found that the kibble (dry food was being thrown up) So I bought them the large royal Canin big kibble because i was told the cats are inhaling the food. And I purchased gel for fur balls . Today after feeding them I found a lot more throw up and liquid (that is yellow bile I assume) I want to take the sick cat to the vet but Can not figure out which one is sick . Any Logical suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
A month ago I asked a question about what cat foods are the best. People started naming all these brands I had never heard of in my life people said the were organic foods. What is the point of wasting your time and money on organic stuff. Cats could care less!!
It’s my dad’s cat. He never takes him to the vet. I took him earlier and he was diagnosed with Cystitis (bladder infection). He told me to change his diet, since he is on a really cheap and low quality food.
He recommended Nutro but that’s the brand he sells at his practice so maybe he’s biased.
True stories from real traveling musicians about the glamorous life on the road! This is from Basel, Switzerland on the 2000 tour. I saw them at the Sooner Theater in Norman that year. Great show. Wally’s parents were in the audience. I think they’re from Norman.
The vet recommended hypoallergenic food for my sister’s highly inbred British Shorthair because she was having bloody stools. Now her anxiety and brain issues seem better but she’s still not normal and her stomach sags though she isn’t fat.
