Feeding an Asian Water Monitor a baby rat. Rodents are a primary source of food for monitors, in addition to other natural food such as birds, eggs and insects. Don’t just feed dog or cat food, make sure the monitor gets as much a natural and balanced diet as possible.
Hi,
I’m just about to run out of cat food which put me in the market for some new premium cat food!
My cat is a Bengal F4 (Male, 7 months old) whom just got castrated about a week ago.
I consider him to be an outdoor cat, as he (if we allow him) spends more time outside than he does inside the house (at least it feels like it!). We are talking at least five –> eight hours of being outside per day if we allow him to.
I live in Norway, so the number of available cat food brands isn’t really that great, the ones considered the "premium" here in Norway is Hill’s with their "new" Vet Essentials series, their Science Diet series, Royal Canin with all their different flavours and series (though no canned food available here in Norway.), Eukanuba and I’ams.
That’s pretty much it! And after reading lots and lots of different reviews of cat food and brands online it almost seems like all these brands aren’t very premium at all?
That’s make me wonder weather I should perhaps "import" something different from outside Norway, if you would recommend me another brand besides the ones I’ve already mentioned?
Until now I’ve been using Royal Canin Baby Kitten 34 and Royal Canin Kitten 36 dry food, along with Royal Canin Kitten Instinctive 12 wet food (bag, not canned) every Saturday.
I was thinking of going a combination of Royal Canin Outdoor 30 and Royal Canin Neutered Young Male (vet series) dry food and Royal Canin Instinctive 12 and Royal Canin Neutered Young Male Wet Diet (vet series) two times per week as my vets recommend me to feed my Bengal F4 some kind of neutered food now after he’s been castrated in order to keep his weight stable and too not run into any kind of urinary diseases.
But after reading so much about people claiming Royal Canin, Hill’s and I’ams being second grade compared to other brands like Wellness Cat Food I’ve started to wonder whether I should just import some global recommend premium cat food instead?
I was also surprised that my vets told me to step down from the kitten branded food and start feeding adult / young adult neutered food instead, even though my cat is only 7months old? I’ve been told several times to firmly stick with the kitten branded food all the way until he’s turned 1 years old? Does that suddenly change after you’ve castrated your cat?
Bottom line is:
My cat is a 7 months old Bengal F4 Male Kitten whom just got castrated, and I’m wondering what type of cat food I should be feeding him? What kind of brand you find the best? And of course if you know some kind of online store / shop that might ship some of it all the way to Norway!
I did just order LOTS of Wellness cat food from the stats, which will ship by JetCarrier!
I mostly went for their Kitten and CORE series which seemed to be their best offerings for my kitten?
Funny thing though is the fact that the total price of all the food + fees and shipping is cheaper than if I had bought the same amount of Royal Canin food here in Norway!

Sometimes I think organic foods are becoming overrated.
I call this cat food Many popular brands of cat food are made from what would otherwise be waste products of the meat industry. Some cat experts claim that this practice, as well as the overly processed nature of dry cat food, is responsible for many of the age-related ailments of cats. Additionally, many major brand-name cat foods are primarily grain-based, often containing large amounts of corn or rice supplemented with meats and essential vitamins, and often saturated with ‘animal digest,’ a highly processed flavoring ingredient containing meat from numerous unspecified animals. Some less well-known pet food manufacturers offer more ‘natural’ formulas of cat food that contain fewer grains and by-products. A few pet food brands, such as Innova EVO, are even made without any grain products at all. Natural cat food brands are often claimed to have cuts of meat closer to those that humans eat, with some manufacturers offering meat that is claimed to be ‘human grade’. Many brands of such cat foods are made from raw ingredients intended to provide nutrition as close as possible to the cat’s natural diet. These brands generally include raw meat with organs, ground bone, some raw vegetables, and some dietary supplements
