WARNING Wellness Pet Food!

There are dangerous, razor-like fish bones in the Wellness pet food that could cut your pet’s esophagus or even your finger! Wellness VP Greg Kean stated that he is “not concerned.” He admitted that he gives his dog whole eggs, that’s not just the whites and the yolk, but the WHOLE EGG IN THE SHELL!!! I have been looking for a premium quality cat food for my Harvie for a bit of a while now. I think the EVO sounds great and secondly the Wellness… I was hoping people that have tried one or both could tell me their stories with them. I know I can buy 12 lb bags of Wellness at Petco and the Evo I would have to buy from a near by groomer. Please let me know your thoughts… I would like to buy some tomorrow or Thursday for my little Harvie. thanks

Is this a good cat food?

I’ve been considering getting a kitten. This would be the first animal that I will pay all expenses for, so I’ve been exploring my options and costs everywhere *first*.

I want to feed a higher-quality food (naturally I’ll go with something the cat does well on) but I don’t want to break the bank. I know it’s important to feed a combo of wet/dry–what I plan to do, anyway.

We have a new Petco in town, so I’ve been checking out what the store supplies. I’ve been going between Wellness and this food:

^^That’s the dry version. I budgeted it to cost me less than a month for a combo of wet/dry with this brand, depending on how fast I go through the dry food. Wellness would be around – a month with a wet/dry combo. Naturally I want to feed something good to my cat, but I also want to feed something *affordable* to my cat. We fed my pup this when she started out, and she did well on it, and the ingredients don’t look so bad, but–what do you think?

Thanks for any answers.

    High quality cat food suggestions?

I currently feed my cats Natural Balance Ultra Premium Cat Food, they like it and do well with it. Recently I’ve been having a hard time finding the food. I buy it at Petco, but now they don’t seem to have it. I’ve called several pet stores, no one has it, unless I buy online and pay a lot of shipping.

So any suggestions on a different brand of food of same or better quality. I want to buy the food at Petco or Petsmart. Thanks!

What brand of dry cat food do your cats like?

I try to always purchase the top-quality, premium cat foods from Petco. I’m very particular what I feed them and will never buy anything with by-products listed in the ingredients. Either they’ve gotten tired of the one I was buying or the formula has changed. Just wondered which ones your cats seem to like?

Source for Petguard Organic Mature Cat Food?

Does any one else out there feed Petguard Organic Mature Cat Food? I’m having the hardest time finding a source for it. I’ve been buying it from petfooddirect.com by the case but it takes them so long to ship that as soon as my shipment arrives I have to order more; or they backorder and never bother to contact me. shopnatural.com was a great source but is not carrying the product anymore. Buying directly from Petguard runs about more per bag then anywhere else that I can find. This food is so expensive as it is but it’s the only food I’ve found that my siamese with irritable bowel can tolerate. Any ideas where I can find this and not pay astronomical shipping costs?

Please don’t answer eBay or the pet food store; if somewhere local, or a chain store (Petsmart, Petco, etc.) carried it or could order it in for me do you think I’d be asking this question?

    Thank-you

    premium cat food brands?

Hello, I have ad kittens before always on premium diets in the past…..but I always bought small bags and now I am getting a new kitten after all this time healing from the loss of my cats.

I realized buying small bags comes out ALOT more expensive than just buying large bags! I would like to keep on varying their food (it’s easier with small bags) but in this economy it is hard, but at least i can afford premium cat food right? :) so i have to buy a big bag now.

anyways..what brands do you like most?
I have noticed almost every cat food bramd says it is wonderful for your cat even science diet says that but I heard it is not very good for cats or dogs…and my cats didn’t ever like science diet..what are other "premium" brands I should avoid?

I have tried Wellness, Evo, Halo, Solid Gold, Organix, Nutro, Science Diet (I don’t like Science Diet, Nutro is okay..nothing compared to wellness though!) I haven’t tried Eukanuba though..

Which one is your favorite to feed your kitten/cat? It doesn’t have to be any of those brands, that was just something jotted down.

Oh and one more thing please don’t forget to answer this if you can..

I came across petco’s website and found that food is categorized as 3 main sections:

    "It’s all natural"
    Organic
    Hollistic

I guessing organic is good because organic things are premium most of the time…but why is it different than just all natural?

    and was is holistic?!

THANKS SO MUCH RESPONSIBLE CAT OWNERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only store that sells Natural Balance is Petco. It’s close by, but I also like Petsmart and other stores. Sometimes they are out of some of the canned flavors my cats like. I feel cheated that now I found a great healthy food…I’m stuck with only one store.
    Should I buy online?

My husband and I just adopted a kitten from a shelter…. they had her on friskies dry food, which I know is not a good food for her. I was told by a woman at our local Petco to put her on Nutro Max kitten formula, but I was also looking into Dick Van Patten’s Natural balance cat food (which can be given to a kitten watered down). Can anyone recommend what would be better? Our dog is currently on Natural Balance allergy free dog formula (he has skin allergies), and does wonderful. Thanks for any info! Oh, if you could also recommend a good wet food to mix in that would be great help!
